Who We Are
Hi there, we’re Pete and Alex Moon – we founded Moonster with a realisation that we loved starting new things, we also wanted to create a business which would not only support us as a family but enable us to give back and bless others along the way (see Our Charitable Giving section below), so in 2014 we took a leap of faith and here we are!
What We Do
At Moonster Handmade Leather we love designing and supplying beautiful, rustic items that we think our customers will love using as much as we do! When you make a purchase from Moonster, you also have the knowledge that you’re making a difference because we give a minimum of 5% of our net profit to the charities listed below.
Our main supplier is a small family run business that employs local artisans who produce the gorgeous products we feel privileged to sell. All our products are handmade and ethically sourced using sustainable and recycled materials wherever possible – for example, many of our journals contain paper made from recycled cotton, left over from the garment industry in India.
It’s really important to us that we have a mutually beneficial relationship with our suppliers. We have built a great relationship with our main supplier over the last few years and have had the privilege to visit their factory and see how they make our wonderful products. They are having a great impact in their local community, providing much needed employment and training opportunities for local workers.
They are also working towards their Fair Trade accreditation and are members of SEDEX, one of the world’s leading ethical trade membership organisations, working with businesses to improve working conditions in global supply chains.
Our Charitable Giving
In addition to this we want to make sure that we are giving back as a business and so we give a percentage of our profits to Tehila, a charitable Trust based in Zambia, Africa which works to promote the protection of children and the prevention of child cruelty and abuse.
We know the founders of Tehila well and have the privilege to call them great friends – we are hugely inspired by their heart, passion and vision to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children in Zambia.
